To promote the release of our new Datica Kubernetes product (an orchestration tool that makes it easier to manage docker containers for compliant healthcare apps), I was asked to make a shirt for the team and customers.
The requested concept only asked for brand elements from Datica, Kubernetes, and a ship (the Kubernetes logo is a ship's wheel). I envisioned a tall-masted ship at night, lit from behind by a full moon; because we do compliant cloud hosting, I thought, why not go full Peter Pan and put the ship in the clouds?
The moon became the 7-sided shape of the Kubernetes logo, and I drew a ship based on the alternate version (which was also popular internally, and has its own charm).
