Most of the public schools in Diyarbakır are surrounded with high walls, grating and razor blade wires. If you don't have any reading skills in Turkish, it would be hard to distinguish public schools from military zones.

While the government propounds the security concerns to defend the implementation, unions and NGOs remarks the pedagogical and psychological damages.

The implementation not only creates an inequality among citizens in terms of educational institutions and quality, but also negatively effects the sense of education and school of students.

Diyarbakır'daki çoğu devlet okulu yüksek duvarlar, demir parmaklıklar ve jiletli tel örgülerle çevrilmiştir. Türkçe okmayı bilmeyenler için Diyarbakır'daki bir devlet okulunu bir askeri bölgeden veya hapishaneden ayırt etmek oldukça güçtür.

Devlet ve yereldeki temsilcileri bu durumu güvenlik gerekçeleriyle açıklamaya çalışırken sendikalar ve sivil toplum kuruluşları da bunun eğitime zarar vereceğini ve öğrencilerin psikolojilerinin olumsuz etkileneceğini savunmaktadır.

Bu uygulama hem eğitim ortamı bakımından vatandaşlar arasında bir eşitsizlik yaratmakta hem de öğrencilerin okul ve eğitim algısını korkuyla ve tehditle olumsuz etkilemektedir.
