About the project
The new web design was a just a part of the complete project we were hired to do by Designschule ltd. Aside from the university website, the college’s public presence was to be revamped as well. A tall order to fill in a short time with a tight budget.
Design process
The web presence of the Vitruvius University also included a complete information architecture. Since the target groups are virtually the same, it made good sense to maintain the structure for usability. Both pages are similar for this reason; as soon as the interested party looked into one page, they can instantly find their way around the other one without any difficulty.
This is the reason we decided to predefine the design process, which led to a swift implementation of all the changes. The support phase as well as embedding the pages and their content, corresponded to the Vitruvius page.
Colors & Font
All the specifications originate in the Designschule’s branding. Myriad Pro proved to be a good web font with the preconditions needed for an enjoyable usability. We were first skeptical about the colors in the corporate identity but the impression it made on the screens turned into our utmost satisfaction and relieved any doubts.
Procedure:
Making the design as user-friendly as possible while maintaining a high level of information was the hardest task for us while collaborating with the Designschule. We could, however, solve any complications whilst structuring the Vitruvius project.
The design was adapted swiftly with the adaptation of the new fonts and other elements. The technical implementation went through just as quick since we built a fundamental template during the groundwork.
Our biggest effort went into the support phase, building a total of over fifty pages and creating content within CMS and together with the client. Finally, we held a small workshop for the future editors to ease them into the newly constructed content before it went live.
