In 2010, I joined the staff of Bay Area Youth (BAY) Magazine. Comprised solely of high school students, we produced and published the only entirely student-run publication in Northern California. The magazine was published quarterly and distributed throughout the Bay Area.
At BAY, I started as the Music Editor before becoming the Editorial Director. The magazine also ran on a "design your own pages" format, so pages with my stories feature my own design and typically, my own photographs. Below are two of my favorite issues. More editions can be found online here.
For the Summer 2011 issue, I wrote two features; one on local bluegrass musician Molly Tuttle and one on local flea markets. I took photographs for the flea market story as well.
For the Autumn 2011 issue, I wrote an opinion piece on the current state of the music industry and photographed the Outside Lands Music + Arts Festival.
