The Plight of Knights And Sight (2018)

"The Plight of Knights and Sight" (2018) is a video game prototype developed for the 2018 Ubisoft Game Lab Competition. Within a span of 10 weeks, participants were tasked with creating a multiplayer game centered around the theme "change the world."

In our game, players assume the roles of an elderly couple who, at the twilight of their lives, embark on a nostalgic journey through a castle filled with intricate puzzles. A unique aspect of the game involves the players communicating with each other to reveal objects that are invisible to their respective views. This interaction transforms and enhances the world of the other player, fostering a sense of shared exploration and discovery.

It is worth noting that our team was honored with the Jury Prize, recognizing the exceptional quality and innovation of our game.
Working in the Gameplay and Online Programming in a team 4 programmers, 2 artists and 2 Game Designers. Main duties were leading the 3C's and adaptative gameplay elements while also providing support on tools, postprocessing and other online functionalities.

As the Programmer with the most experience in the team, also took upon duties of planning, task managing and mentoring.
Camera integration before final version, clipping was later removed to prioritize free movement of camera.
The gameplay had in place a system of adaptative gameplay, to make the game less difficult depending of the type of player that focused in two phases:

                                         Phase 1                   Phase 2                        Phase 3
[Start of the Game|=Fixed Puzzle Time=|==Blinking Time==|===Time to Appear All===]

-Fixed Puzzle Time: The set time to not apply any visual help changes on the level.
-Blinking Time: Defined by a time duration multiplied by the number of blinks. Apply a glow to objects the other player couldn't see to foment communication of those obstacles.
-Time to Appear All: Defined as the actual time to appear elements initially invisible to the local player, then making the puzzle resolution much easier if the players arrived til that time.
