COLLECTION: FABRICS AND KNITWEAR

In the world of knits and fabrics there is a huge variety of structures and yarns that can be combined, giving rise to a multitude of solutions.
After some studying and sampling, I was able to define the type of structures that I aimed to create. Showing a certain complexity and attention to detail that could result in unique pieces, the choices of unusual yarns was a great bet for the collection, as they sought innovation and some eccentricity in the structures.
Some of the most daring yarns for the fabrics were supplied by Borgstena (Nelas, Portugal), a textile company for the automotive industry. The addiction of this type of yarn gave the fabrics a three-dimensional aesthetics. The lurex yarn was provided by the company Logik (Covilhã, Portugl), and its use created light effects and brightness on the clothes. Despite its holographic dimension, it was thought to create a glow and harmony with the rest of the yarn of each structure. Some of the colors used in the collection were dyed in the university's own color laboratory and later twisted with lurex and vaporized to stabilize the final yarn.

The fabrics were produced by the company A. Saraiva Lda, a wool company from Covilhã (Portugal), which also supplied some of the yarns chosen for the fabrics. The finishes of the fabrics were made by the company Alçada & Pereira, Lda (Covilhã, Portugal) and it was chosen only thermofixation and washing.
For the knitwear, the yarns used were supplied by the company Somelos Fios, S. (Guimarães, Portugal). The fibers used in the collection were wool, polyester, alpaca, viscose, cotton, polyamide and mohair.
All structures designed for fabrics and knits were entirely original and idealized only for this project, in the program Kaledo Weave (fabrics) and CAD system (knitwear).
