Hudson Valley Weather Android App

Hudson Valley Weather - Android App
Hudson Valley Weather is a local organization that provides the most accurate and down-to-Earth weather forecasts for the Hudson Valley and Catskills of New York. They have a massive and dedicated following, and in early 2017, they felt it was time to provide their community with a reliable mobile app. Along with my team at Moonfarmer, I did the UX work to make that a reality.
Information Architecture
As a starting point, I conducted an audit of the user experience present on their existing iOS app. From there, I ended up with a list a features, and some better ways to approach the existing functionality in the new app. The objective here was not to create a completely different app with different features, but to conduct a redesign that would make the app more enjoyable to use. After I had all of this mapped out, I created a visualization of all the screens and how a user would flow through them. due to the small scale of the app, I also integrated low-fidelity wireframes into this step.
Prototyping
After we had the information architecture finalized, I moved into the visual design and prototyping the app. This deliverable would be what the developers built to create our React Native app. After I designed all the screens, I linked them all up in a Marvel Prototype, which can be tested out below.
Outcomes
You can currently download the Hudson Valley Weather App that I designed from the Google Play Store. Since its release in April of 2017, the public response has been pretty positive. If you live in the Hudson Valley and want some accurate weather forecasts on your Android device, I highly recommend downloading!
