Brenes Family Crest

Introduction
In this project, we were told to make a new Family Crest since the old ones are outdated and overall not appealing to the eye. We were asked to create modernized version of a family crest that well described our past, traditions, and culture. These crest are supposed to exemplify what our families are really about and how we came to where are today.

Family Notes
I sat down with my father one night and we talked about his life in Costa Rica and how he came to the United States. He gave me a lot of details on his past life and what kinds of things he did. He told me about how he used to visit a famous volcano in Costa Rica called Volcan Arenal. He told me it is a beautiful place to visit with friends and family. Also, he told me about his religious life and how his family was very catholic. Then, he explained how Arizona meant so much to him especially since that is where he raised his kids.

Pitch
This crest represents my family in the best way I can think of. at the top of the outer shape of my crest, there is a crown with three tips, each representing my dad, my brother, and I. I wrote EST. 1969 because that is when my father was born and he plays a huge role in my life. I chose the laurels because I thought they made the crest look a lot nicer than without them. The cactus was made to represent Arizona, the place that has been home to my family for the past 20+ years. The volcano represents my father's past and how he used to visit a famous volcano in Costa Rica which is where he grew up. The chalice and the body of Christ are used to represent our Catholic background which has been in our family for years. Finally, the sun is used to represent Arizona and Costa Rica together because they are both beautiful sunny places. Also, my mom loves collecting little sun statues so I used that to represent her as well. In the end, my crest came out exactly how I wanted it to even though it went through many changes and ideas.
