VACUUM GOLD

Artwork based on multiple experiments only unified by the golden shader in a world where physics is beyond the unknown (motion presets).

Tools - Cinema 4D, X-Particles, Arnold Render, Photoshop, After Effects, Sapphire, RSMB, MBL

SOUND DESIGN

What only started as random experiments ended up as something unified and expressive, not only with the help of visual tweaks but through good sound design. The description given to the friend who composed it, was “an invisible pressure
in a non temperature environment that cannot fully be lit”

Sound was finished long before visuals and therefore steered most of the shots direction for example the robot and the bells.
Zeppelin X Air Balloon

The bells were inspired by the sound edit but what led to its full shape was simply the personal interest of steam punk. Steam punk is a genre of science fiction defined by its’ typical steam powered machinery combined with historical elements and anachronistic technological features - But that wouldn’t fit in the simplistic design dominated by golden sweeps.
Next step was to find good references and then strip down the amount of details down to an equal level that fitted the rest of the experimental shots.
PIPELINE

All shots have been made through Cinema 4D, then rendered through Arnold Renderer Software. The gold shader were never actually made out of gol but in a red metal shader later changed in post. It was easier to control it that way as the lighting were far more difficult to control towards a glossy gold shader.

The final golden touch were enhanced and created through a mix of After Effects and Sapphire plugin glow effects. It was simply no need to generate glow in 3D.

Photoshop and Illustrator came of natural use when it came to style frames, UVs, pattern making and detailed paths.
