BÁRA
Immersed in the quaint allure of Reykjavik, a city teeming with charming ironclad houses, I couldn't help but be captivated. Withstanding the tumultuous winds and relentless storms of Iceland, these homes bear witness to a unique architectural heritage that speaks of resilience, individuality, and unyielding spirit.

After the devastating city fire of 1915, the Icelanders turned to corrugated iron, using it not just as a roofing material but as a cladding for their homes. This material's robustness and suitability to the country's weather conditions made it a popular choice, becoming an integral part of the city's landscape. And in time, the colorful and vibrant facades of these homes emerged, adorning the cityscape with a dazzling array of colors.

A stroll through the streets of Reykjavik and other Icelandic towns reveals the striking contrast between the harsh weather and the inviting and undulating facades of these ironclad homes. Their allure transcends the mundane, embracing individualism in all the colors of the rainbow.

BÁRA candlestick pays tribute to these charming homes and their kaleidoscopic hues. Named after the Icelandic word for corrugated iron, BÁRA, meaning wave, this exquisite piece symbolizes the resilience of these homes amidst the ebb and flow of life's waves. As we light a candle in BÁRA, we are reminded of the beacon of hope and individuality that these homes represent, withstanding the test of time and nature.

Unveiled at the Icelandic Design March in 2017, BÁRA is a testament to the city's rich architectural heritage, its vibrant culture, and the unyielding spirit of its people.
