The Composition of Hate

The Composition of Hate

When faced with creating an infographic, I couldn’t resist myself from going down a satirical route. I decided to create what I call “The Composition of Hate”. The infographic displays an unnamed, human figure who is a visual representation of Hatred and takes jabs at him in the form of satirical statistics.
In creating the infographic, I decided early on that I would want to utilize simple vector shapes, a handful of bright colors, and a clean but fun typeface. I wanted to do this to create a juxtaposition between the image itself and the idea behind it, the latter being hatred. I wanted to ensure that the infographic itself pulled people in with its playful look would keep viewers interested enough to read what’s written and look at the bold graphics. To maintain the simple vector look, I tried to create everything by combining different circles and rectangles, avoiding the freeform pen tool. For the colors, I chose a loose color scheme for the graphics consisting primarily of five, saturated colors. The color scheme for the human figure uses some of these colors; however, they are much darker and/or are more desaturated than the original colors.
