Eichstätt by night
Come join me on a frosty winter's tour through and on top of the Bavarian city of Eichstätt and explore some magical places!
One night, when the first snow had fallen on the roofs of Eichstätt, music sounded from below. It was the time of carnival when all folks gathered on the brightly lighted main square to party. Yet from above the scenery radiated peace and calmness.

It's one of Eichstätt's most fascinating places: The "Figurenfeld" high above the city in the dry grassland. Sculptures by Alois Wünsche-Mitterecker, a local sculptor, remind of the brutality of war. Adding some light painting however makes the sculptures look like an alien invasion.

Castle Willibald is Eichstätt's famous landmark and can be seen from almost everywhere. Following the river Altmühl by bike, one can circle the old castle and search for the most beautiful perspective. This one you can have from a little bridge that connects Eichstätt to a small neighbor village.

What looks more like a cemetery at night, is showing the time at daytime. Each night, these twelve stones gather together to discuss the next day's length of time. That night, it was "7 pm" who was making the decisions.
