PUBLICATION AND BOOK DESIGN

I have designed and produced large and small publications for commercial clients and cultural institutions. Working with the author and laying out the content and sketching how the book will come to life in the viewers hands – is a passion for me. I think about how they will experience it and and how will it feel - tactile and rich or slick. Printing is an art form in itself and I relish specing a project and working with the printer to make sure the details are all in place and within the budget.

EXHIBITION  seriouslyFunny

This quirky and cynical exhibition gave me the opportunity to work with a handful of amazing artists and two curators, Claire Schneider and Cassandra Coblentz who wrote this brochure that I gave life too with vivid color, clever typography and a unique orientation to engage the viewer. I designed the publication and managed the printing and production.

Looking Through the Other End of a Telescope
southwestNET: film & video

This amazingly technical exhibition proved challenging to capture in print. The logo treatment and photography turned out amazing. Video and film are wonderful to reproduce. The gorgeous purples and blues really made the finished piece come to life. I designed the book and managed the printing and production.

Kirsten Everberg Looking for Edendale

I had the privilege of working with Curator Cassandra Coblentz and Artist Kirsten Everberg on this anticipated publication of her work. The dustjacket was a lovely cross-section of one of her pieces that draws the reader in and gives her work a stage to be enjoyed. This oversized book was perfect bound and care was taken to make sure her work was beautifully replicated and true to color. I designed and managed the printing and production.

Liz Cohen Radical Mod

This unbelievable exhibition of Liz Cohens' "Radical Modification" of herself (bikini model/mechanic/artist) and her Trabantamino (a English Trabant car that transforms into an El Camino). The style of this exhibition and special Smoca Nights event showcased her and I designed the look, logo, collateral and magazine-style book highlighting her exhibition. The metallic postcards served as hip memorabilia and the book along with custom t-shirts of the logo were an amazing success.
CLIENT | Pacific Links International

This international client wanted to elevate their US presence with a sexy "bro-mag" that gave each course a full spread that would highlight the course designer, the location and the natural beauty. I developed a perfect-bound design that allowed for expansion each year with a new cover, advertising pages, new programs and course updates. The book gave PLI the cache they wanted as their portfolio of clubs grew.

UNLOCKING JEAN SHIN AND BRIAN RIPEL
Curated and written by Cassandra Coblentz

This was an amazing opportunity to work with these two New York artists who create work from recycled items that are discarded by others. Since the keys pattern was the catalyst for the piece – it connects everyone that you give your key to. I made a dust jacket of the key patten that has to be "unlocked" in a sense to open the lovely perfect bound book. The foil embossed cover and dust jacket are complemented by one color printing and insets of full-color photography of the exhibition. I designed, directed and produced.
