"Seeing Sounds" project in digital art. We were asked to basically draw an album cover for a single song.
This illustration portrays myinterpretation of the Avenge Sevenfold song “Nightmare”. The song refers tobeing dragged down to hell for the choices a person has made. Ultimately theydeserve to be there for their sins, yet they fight to get out of this nightmare. The illustration shows a zombie character fighting to get him self out of thegraveyard where he was presumably buried, while a mysterious demon lurks in thebuilding behind him. The zombie shows a slight disposition of laughter, whichsymbolizes the haunting laughter in the background music throughout thesong. On his forehead, you can see a faintbloody number “6”. This refers to the lyrics “so stand in line while they inknumbers in your head, you’re now a slave until the end of time here”. Theentire piece has a dark and gloomy feel to it to represent one’s deepestnightmares. The addition of bats is a past reference to Avenge Sevenfold’sprior song’s success “Bat Country”, which has since been a representation ofthe band.
