Pisa, San Gimignano, Siena

A day tour took us touring around Tuscany on a beautiful Italian summers day.

Pisa, was the first stop. To be honest, all I really knew about Pisa was that the leaning tower of Pisa lived there! We had a very short stop at Pisa so took the chance to visit the Duomo as well - skipping the queues as we were there just before the hoards of tourists.
San Gimignano - a medieval town at the top of a hill in the province of Siena and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The beautifully preserved building and towers, the best gelato in the world, and splendid views over Tuscany made this one of my favourites.
Last stop: Siena

Another UNESCO World Heritage Site, in the province of Tuscany. First settle in around 900 BC, this town has an incredibly long history. Legend says that Siena was founded by Senio, son of Remus, of the famous duo Romulus and Remus who founded Rome. The symbol of Siena is a she-wolf suckling Romulus and Remus and it can be seen through statues all over the city of Siena.
