Manila: Young and Old

Manila: Young and Old

A place is just a reflection of its people. As chaotic as this old city can be, Manila has a certain character outmatched by no other place I've been. One may see the clutter in the streets, the long hours of waiting in traffic, and the chaotic mix of sights, sounds and smell as you go through the streets of old Manila, but as soon as you zoom past all the chaos and slow down a bit, one can experience the simple joy of being a silent observer in a loud place.

Walk past the old streets of Escolta and you can see ageing structures that was once a reminder of what it has been. Stroll through the oldest China Town in the world, and be surprised of how rich and diverse an old Spanish colonial city can be. It may be a family of two walking their way to a restaurant in Binondo or people of young and old sitting on street corners begging for their next meal, this old city definitely teaches new perspectives of seeing a place interact with its people and culture.
