Chance is Beautiful

I based my project around the concept of 'Chance'  and how something can appear decayed and weathered but at a closer glance becomes beautiful to the eye.
I wanted to communicate this idea visually and decided to express my ideas through a print based project allowing the prints to do the talking.

Experimentation with Carborundum Printing allowed me to communicate the idea that 'rust' and 'natural weathering' within objects is beautiful.
The process involved painting texture and mild acid onto a metal plate allowing this to erode parts of the plate away to achieve a rusted look.
I then printed the plate varying the intensity of colour for each print and building up a layer of typography to communicate the idea further.

I feel my designs visualise the beauty of rust within objects and the unique colours and textures found within.
The texture created onto the paper from the Carborundum plate really exaggerates beauty of colour found within rusted objects.
Experimentation with Typography for advertisement.
Screen Print, where I looked solely at the weathered areas of an object exaggerating the continuous lines found within.
