My role: concept development and lay-out
For some time now, Kerama Marazzi has been launching a new thematic collection of ceramic tiles every year. Japan, India, England and France were some of the destinations the first thematic collections drew from. This "travel around the world" theme offered the Russian consumer in the early 2000s the possibility to have their own French style bathroom or English kitchen and, in some way, to travel abroad while remaining at home.

This was the second travel guide we launched (see my other project, #NaPoli  guide) as a souvenir for interior designers working with KM ceramic tiles. The gist was to reveal some of the inspiration behind the ceramic tile patterns, designs and colour palettes, while at the same time offering a nice little guide they could easily bring around in their travels.

You can see the layout and colour palette here. I took some inspiration from the magazine Monocle. The travel guide included a number of features that have remained a constant over the subsequent issues (Venice, Paris and Spain). Firstly the bear: the protagonist of a ceramic tile collection I created for kids, drawing from sketches during my University time. He plays the role of the Russian tourists.
Then, each page also included a ceramic tile next to a place it drew inspiration from with a short explanation next to it. I also developed an informal lay-out, playing with words, using symbols like the hastag, different brackets at the same time as well as a mix of small and capital letters in the titles.
We are in the fourth edition of this pretty little travel guide and I am glad to say that it has become a constant in presentations to interior designers, together with the new collection beautiful catalogues!
Thank you!
