mPowering Action - Pre-Grammy Event
To celebrate the launch of the United Nations "mPowering Action" app, we held a Pre-Grammy party in Los Angeles, CA the night before the main Grammy event. UN Youth Ambassadors flew in from around the world and spent the evening with artists such as Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Avicii, Agnes Monica and many other Actors and Non-Profit, Business and World Leaders.
mPowering Action was the first UN app focused around better understanding the concerns of youth around the world and giving them ways to take action on around those concerns.
My role was creative direction and production lead, but this project was a true collaboration of the entire Tribal Planet design team. From Ideation to UI/UX, Print, 3D rendering, and Development.
Photocard
We developed three different digital experiences for the event. Photocard allowed users to take a traditional photobooth image and then customize it with frames, stickers, filters and other items, highlighting the causes that they cared about. All of this was done on large touch screen monitors. Photocard was years ahead of its time and would eventually become a key feature of social media apps and how we interaction in our messaging systems.
Graffiti Wall
The Graffiti Wall experience let users create digital art around their cause(s) of choice. Realistic paint, stamp and sticker effects let them customize their experience which they could then print or share with friends. A unique activation experience that would become ubiquitous on app store a few years later.
Green Screen Videos
Our onsite Green Screen activation put attendees into a mixing session with Avicii. Our system composited users between multiple layers of video, giving it a realistic effect that most onsite and app green screen applications still dont do. Videos were quickly compiled and could be sent to their mobile device, emailed or shared on social media. We also developed a multi-camera, chose-your-own-adventure version that gave users a customized video that was unique from other event attendees.
Event Design
We created videos, posters, backdrops, laminates, invites, bus wrap (for our mobile recording studio), AR triggers and many other print related items. Our team also oversaw other event design related items like decor.
