Kirk Fisher (Louisiana)'s profile

Advocating for Neglected Youth with CASA for Children

Kirk Fisher, the CEO of Fisher Real Estate and an MBA Instructor at Louisiana State University, stays active in his community with philanthropic activities. In his free time, Kirk Fisher plays in a band for local Louisiana charities, including CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for Children.

In an often hectic and overburdened legal system, some children who have been neglected or abused can fall through the cracks and return to unsuitable homes. CASA employs more than 86,000 volunteer advocates across the country who are properly trained and vetted to stay with each case until it has concluded, ensuring that children are placed in safe homes. The volunteer advocates can speak on a child's behalf and be a constant positive influence in the young person’s life.

Young people with a CASA advocate have many more benefits than those without. Children supported by an advocate are less likely to return to foster care, more likely to be adopted, more likely to do better in school, and more likely to have a positive attitude.
