Satanic Panic T-Shirts
2016
Silkscreen on textile
A series of unique shirts all hand screenprinted using a combination of stencil and monoprint, using straight bleach as well as metallic ink.
These shirts were inspired by the dark cultural shift that happened between the 1960s and 1970s. Suddenly the Summer of Love seemed so far away, but those psychedelic vibes are still lingering into the 70s, charged by sexual liberation, drug use, and a fascination for all things dark and devilish. Inspired by horror films that exploited this such as the Hammer Production company and bands such as Black Sabbath, these prints were a real labour of love in their printing. No two are alike, and the process of creating them was almost ritualistic in the amount of prepping the screens and the amount of protective clothing I had to wear.
