I was working in Estonia, in a studio specialized in calligraphy, paper making and letter press printing. A young couple ordered a special wedding invitation. They were getting married in Setomaa, a southern region half in Estonia half in Russia, where seto people live in beautiful wooden houses. They are old orthodox believers, speak their own language and wear overelaborated clothes
I took some traditional seto patterns and created a new ones out of them. They were combined with wood textures, printed in letter press and folded in a house shape card. In the end the couple chose a more traditional option but my boss loved so much the design that they are now printing and selling it in different colors
