This project required creating a coffee shop with a specific target market in mind. Each student could choose the location, but the requirement was that the design choices had to make sense based on the chosen location. We had to create a logo and illustrations that made sense. The design choices then had to be distributed across various items such as a coffee bag, a menu, cups, napkins, sugar packs, etc.

I chose Springdale, Utah as my location. It is a small town near Zion National Park and is also about an hour from Brian Head Ski Resort. In this part of the country, mountains are everywhere. I wanted to be sure to implement that in my design. For the main illustration that I incorporated in most of my items, I created a topographic map. I drew the illustration and then used the pen tool to convert it into a digital file. For the logo itself, I chose the name "Mountain Mud" because I feel like it flows nicely and it fit for the location. Rather than creating an illustration with mountains in it, I wanted to stick to typography. The logo and the illustrations managed to mesh well together.

With this project, I learned a lot about marketing and how to make a lot of different items flow and work together. You have to tactically pick apart logotype, marks, and illustrations in order to finish with a complete look.
