Welcome to our project!
We are DNIGMA, passionate young entrepreneurs, lovers of great magic and design. Our team is based in Mexico and Los Angeles, we want our essence to be part of history through unique playing card designs that can achieve astonishing visual impact.

Passion, design, and magic are our key ingredients proudly represented on #ImperioDeck.
Why it's named "IMPERIO"?
The designs on our cards are based on the prehispanic cultures of Mexico such as the Mayans and Aztecs. Each of these tribes initiated the development of the Mesoamerican civilization and territorial expansion. The greatest cultural expression was consented by the Aztec empire. Empire which translates to IMPERIO in the Spanish language reflects the greatness of these cultures. Given the majestic, greatness and the rich cultural history associated with the word, we decided IMPERIO best reflects the theme of our playing cards.

ABOUT THE MAYANS...
The Mayans have a rich history that goes back 3,000 years. They lived through 3 periods: Preclassic, Classic, and Postclassic period.
Mayans believed and worshiped many gods, one of them being the feathered serpent. Kukulkan was one of their main gods, also known as Quetzalcoatl by the Aztec tribe. Each tribe designed their God differently.
The diagram below is an example of the feathered serpent the Mayans worshiped.

The Mayans were known for their glyphic writing. This was where they registered their mythology, history and their scientific insight.

ABOUT THE AZTECS...
The Aztecs lived during the Postclassic period, before the Spanish Conquest. They had a religiosity that unified various Mesoamerican beliefs and had several mythological interpretations of their god Quetzalcoatl, known as the feathered serpent.

The Aztecs were excellent astronomers, which allowed them to predict frosts, strong winds, rains among other phenomena.
Their calendar "The Sun Stone" perhaps its most famous work of sculpture that weighs about 24 tons, is composed of 18 months of 20 days. The calendar also describes the movement of the stars and has inscriptions alluding to the Azteca cosmogony and solar cults.
For the design, distinctive elements of these two cultures were taken as a reference and a variation of them was made. We combined them with our imagination and creativity. Much effort went into designing each element of our deck as detailed as possible.

Our Aces, Kings, Queens, and Jacks were first drawn by hand with great detail and then digitalized to obtain these magnificent results.
Below you will find our sketches and the transformation they went through to get to our final design.

For the back design, we created a variation of the Aztec calendar. We took a few elements from the Aztec calendar and added our own designs to obtain an incredible composition that creates a great visual impact on each performance.
Back design
The front face of the box depicts the feathered serpent. According to these cultures, Quetzalcoatl as known by the Aztecs and Kulkulkan as known by the Mayans worshiped the same god, but depicted them differently. Above you will see the combination of two prehispanic tribes cultures come together in our design.
