Jenny Levey's profile

Beauty Fads, ISTD.

For this the text played a part in creating the side profile of a women. The red lips creating the illusion of a face and text of her hair swept into a up do style.
In the sixteenth century women used to wear corsets to cinch their waists , often damaging there internal organs. The fad was , for the majority, forgotten for many years until recently when women have crazed over waist trainers, the modern day corset.
Editorial design based on a 2016 brief given by ISTD, International Society of Typographic Designers. The brief was to typographically represent a fad throughout history. I decided to focus my project on beauty fads that have come and gone. The layout of the magazine flows from head to toe, beginning with the eyebrows, following on to how the ideal complexion has transformed over the years from white to orange, continuing on to the teeth , the waist and finally the feet. Every image was created using only typography.
