I designed a flag for my home city of Flagstaff, Arizona. The general layout is a visual reference to the flag of Arizona, with the blue desert horizon replaced with a green vector rendering of the San Francisco Peaks, a group of mountains that help create a generalized, Flagstaff identity, fimbriated in white to represent snow. The sunset rays of the Arizona flag are here replaced with a clear, blue sky and the bronze star is replaced with a bronze pinecone, as pine forests are another bit of our regional identity.
This flag I've dubbed 'The Maritime Flag' is purely a study in the pathfinding options in Illustrator that I ended up finding rather aesthetically pleasing.
This is my concept of a flag for an Iberian Union between Spain and Portugal. Basically, I saw all those little, intricate, heraldric markings on the Spanish flag and wanted to vectorize them and do something with it.
I liked the starkness of the red on white in the Korean and Japanese flags, so I decided to unify them into a single emblem. The main differences I employed were the white fimbriation around the Korean yin-yang to separate it from the Japanese sun and I added the 4 trigrams missing from the existing Korean flag in gold.
