Cycling in Dubai

Unlike Amsterdam, Copenhagen or even Toronto, Dubai has never been a bicycle-friendly city, expats who've come from cities with cycling culture have always found it a bit frustrating in Dubai, but things are changing a bit now, for the first time in Dubai we have a dedicated cycling track.

It's a two lane track that runs in both directions, totalling about 80 kms, and it starts on Al Qudra road, past Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club and goes all the way to Bab Al Shams Resort.

Dedicated cyclists start gathering around early from 4:30 - 5:30AM, some go in the evenings as well but during the day time it's totally deserted. Rush time is early Friday mornings when you'd find hundreds bicycling around and most in groups.

It's a simple and quite track with desert surroundings and no traffic around, early in the morning when sun is about to rise I find it to be quite serene and beautiful, you wouldn't realise that you're in Dubai.

This track is relatively new and a lot of people still don't know about it yet, I discovered it by accident and decided to document it so people who are curious about it can get an idea of what it's like.
