Accident Stool

Furniture
Accident Stool is my graduation work.
Right after graduation, I am starting activities as a furniture designer and planning to extend my
areas of activities to the areas of commercial furniture, art furniture, branding and creative direction.

‘Mongle Mongle Swaaaaaaaa......’
( it is korean onomatopoeic words. i think it’s in english as ‘Lumpy, Hiss...’)
I wanted to catch it before it would be mixed with water soon.

Accident Stool is a work produced by a new method I happened to find following the appearance
in which ink is sinking in water.
I wanted to pause the appearance of ink dropping in water and spreading with lumps, which is
shown in several seconds. While I was doing an experiment of putting various things into the water,
I put another material by mistake. By accident, coincidences made up things. When three kinds of
liquid are mixed all at once, two substances are separated in there and create a form only with
gravity and buoyancy. It is generated in a form which is never elaborated in different appearances
each moment. The flexibility and coincidental moves in the water were captured by the hand at the
moment. The appearance is possibly considered dreamlike.

The main material of Accident Stool is urethane. It is made by mixing oil paint and another
material and pouring them into the water. Starting from a miniature, it was completed by the
experiments of dozens of times.
