Barnardo's campaign
Barnardo's is a campaign designed for the final show of FdA Graphic Design. It is a set of three posters bringing awareness of adults that went through a difficult childhood but thanks to help from Barnardos they are doing well now. Many times people do not look like they went through hard times when they were kids and society has a wrong image of people in need. People, in this case, kids, that need help are just ordinary strangers that we pass on the street every day. Kids are struggling not only due to stereotypical parent’s faults such as a drug/alcohol addiction or a low income.
The number of young carers in the UK total at least 195,000.
With so many adult responsibilities, young carers often miss out on opportunities that other children have to play and learn. Many struggle educationally and are often bullied for being ‘different’. They can become isolated, with no relief from the pressures at home, and no chance to enjoy a normal childhood. Through violence in the home, children may suffer emotional and psychological damage. The very young may show physical signs of distress such as bedwetting, stomach-aches and disturbed sleep. Older children can become withdrawn or exhibit extreme behaviour, such as misusing alcohol or drugs. Children today - adults tomorrow. Help build better future.

1 in 10 children will experience some degree of sexual abuse – that’s one million children.
Children who have been abused suffer feelings of guilt and shame, which can dramatically affect their lives as adults. They may experience long-term emotional and psychological problems, and difficulties in forming relationships later in life. Many feel little self esteem and often do not know how to show or receive affection without acting sexually. Most abusers are family members or well-known to those they abuse, with the abuse taking place in either the child’s home or that of the abuser. Children today - adults tomorrow.
