Abercrombie & Fitch Collection Synopsis

The concept that I choose to lead my inspiration for the new direction of Abercrombie and Fitch is “Letting Go”. I wanted to capture the essence of pure relaxation, being stress-free, giving yourself a cleanse of whatever is weighing you down. There are many ways to portray my inspiration, but I was mostly drawn to images from nature. Because I am designing for spring/summer 2019, I used images from the spring and summer season to make it cohesive. The fabrications I chose are light-weight cottons. Some of the fabrics that I chose are textural, which really speak the natural aspect of my concept. I chose an open weaved cotton, shirting, chambray, a textural woven cotton, and many other light weight breathable cottons. My color palette mostly consists of neutrals with a few saturated colors. My color palette consists of ocean cream, sunrise pink, sky blue, flower-field yellow, breezy green, and sunset mahogany. These colors and fabrications will be utilized with more relaxed silhouettes. I decided to keep the silhouettes relaxed and minimal because that gives off a more comfortable vibe which relates to the stress-free nature of my inspiration. One of my pieces, which is a loose-fitting dress shirt paired with a relaxed pair of sweat-pants and slide in sandals really demonstrates the comfortness and pure relaxation that I’m trying to convey. The customer I’m designing for is a laid back 20-25 year-old woman. She is a business woman, but these are her clothes for her down time. These are the clothes she puts on when she wants to relax and feel comfortable, but still look presentable. During her down time, she likes to sit and read in her backyard which feels like a safe-haven because of all the stones and plants she picked and planted to make her feel more relaxed. She loves to travel, but at the moment she has been saving up to visit various hot springs around the United States. Although this collection will be under $100 and considered Mass Market Fashion, my customer enjoys visiting local boutiques to find interesting pieces to add to her closet. When she is out and about shopping, she likes to visit stores like Old Navy where she knows she can walk in and grab what she needs.
