Metro Manila or Manila as it is interchangeably used outside of the country refers to the Philippine's capital city. The city was named after the local mangrove trees () that were dominant in the area when Spain colonized the country during the 1500's. Today, it is one of the world's most populated and Asia's most westernized with notable cultural influence coming from the US, Spain, China, India and other neighboring countries. It is one of the most dynamic and vibrant cities in the world today that truly makes it a unique city to live in.
