Sublands presents a multimedia body of work centered on representations of Midwestern Americana with a suburban edge. The works touch upon themes like consumption, conformity, aggression and banality while simultaneously serving as an homage to the conflicted nostalgia one feels for a culture to which one is born into. Darkly humorous, the works emphasize the duality that lies between the glossy veneer and the unsettling characteristics revealed underneath this American construct.
