Composite Lace

This study aims to create new materials and objects from the opposing elements of lace and plastic. By coating lace in resin, I am trying to circumvent the traditionally soft, delicate nature of lace. At the same time, the durable and ubiquitous qualities of plastic are transformed. The typically reproducible material when applied to lace that is made with no apparent pattern becomes something entriely different. The result is both durable and fragile.
All pieces are tatted by hand, a traditional lace-making technique. No pattern is used except personal intuition.
