Harry Potter Books Turned Into B-Movie Posters
Gearing up for the Halloween season and October's Friday the 13th, the team that run the Harry Potter literary world site "Pottermore," reached out to me to collaborate on an idea where the monsters, creatures, and villains from the Potter books get reimagined as retro style B-movie horror posters. Having them narrowed down to five characters/scenes from the different books and each being depicted in a different decade's style of poster art, below is the collection, now viewable at Pottermore.com.
"Troll! In the Dungeon!" taking on a 1940s feel for poster inspiration.
"The Mermaid Escape" being spawned from the look and feel of such classics as Creature from the Black Lagoon, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and Fantastic Voyage.
"Attack of the Giant Acromantula" channels the epitome of B-movie poster art. Giant creatures taking over; many posters helped make this come into fruition.
"The 16 Foot Little Brother" got a helping hand from the legends of Bigfoot and other Sasquatch inspired mythos as well as classic and more recent King Kong depictions.
"Umbridge Vs. Hogwarts" had the art direction of requesting it to be depicted as a 1980s b-movie poster; a lot of in-your-face pink, crazy fonts, and dramatic black back-drops. Lot of fun went into making this.
