This design is part of the virus plug-ins developed during the MakerLab residency in Istanbul. Hacking of a bollard in Adhocracy Exhibition space in Galata Greek School İstanbul Turkey. The bollard is 3D scanned with 123D Catch and the scanned model is subtracted from the hanger. Then the hanger is assembled around the bollard.
The Hanger plug-in is an infection created by Efe Alpay in Maker Lab workshop in the Adhocracy exhibition of Istanbul Design Bienniale 2012.
The intent of the Hanger plug-in is to infect a social space (Adhocracy exhibition entrance in this case) by using an already existing structure and design around it. Hanger plug-in which is visible from the outside of the exhibition space connects other plug-ins on the surrounding streets designed at Maker Lab Istanbul to the exhibition space and welcomes the visitors of the exhibition with a strange yet familiar appearance, personalizing a public space with the feeling of coming home.
