About “Let´s colour Gothenburg”
Gothenburg Art 21 is a competition created by a project called Let’s Colour Gothenburg. Let’s Colour Gothenburg puts unemployed youths into work and aims to unite the city. During the project, the participating youths will be given training to become professional painters. The project recruits youths from districts of Gothenburg where the unemployment is high. During the education the participating youths also get to reinvigorate the suburbs with paint and colours.
By painting the artwork the youths will train to be a professional painters and eventually get a job so my art is creating work opportunities:)

The artistic intervention seeks to break the gravity, the volume and the great weight of the intervened object. Through color the project smooths the bridge’s silhouette, adding a dimension of sensibility to the space. The bridge’s central supporting columns will be painted in legoblock formation, creating a landmark to be viewed from far and wide.

The intervention tries to transform the old bridge Älvsborgsbron so that it is part of the identity of the city.

I chose the bridge, because it seemed very heavy as volume and crushed the buildings near and under it.
The problem itself indicated me the solution. I had to contrast a design - light, cheerful and carefree. Then I found the lego blocks is a valid system. And from here I just had to integrate the design on the existing architecture.
