ASU Ceramic Museum Design

Design for the ASU Ceramics Research Center to showcase ceramic art and engage with the audience. The building opens up to engage with and welcome passers-by to enter and explore. The building surrounds a large courtyard and sculpture garden, providing peaceful public space and inviting people to enter. Ceramic art is displayed within the large windows giving a glimpse of what is inside. 
The gallery space takes advantage of the durability of ceramics compared to other art and utilizes natural light, both top-light and north windows, to showcase the artwork. The gallery is divided into different spaces by changes in the floor plane, which reflect the change in desired ceiling height for the program spaces below.
