Photoshopped images of twelve garments that I made since high school. Each garment is given a species of butterfly, matching the colours and patterns of its wings.
Red Glider
The dress was made the summer after the second year of university (2010). It consists of a plain underdress as base, two twisted strips of fabric that decorate the chest part, and two large pieces coming down from the chest, draping over the front of the dress and joining together at the back. The fabric is a soft, synthetic fabric that drapes and flows nicely.

Grey Pansy
This garment was made in high school (2007). The back is like a normal sundress with wide straps. The right front piece of the dress is extended to about 1.5 times the width of the torso, and buttoned down on the left side of the dress front so that the extension drapes down. The fabric is a synthetic material printed with grey designs.

Zebra Swallowtail
This sweater was made in the summer of 2012, when I had just learned how to knit. Made with black and white yarn, the majority of the garment is knitted with a checker pattern. Near the bottom, after a row of a fuzzy grey yarn, I started playing with different knitting techniques, such as yarn over, drop yarn, basket weaving, etc. The bottom of the sweater is ribbed. The sweater pieces as well as the sleeves are knitted so that they are oversized, and are held together with four buttons near the neckline.

Mourning Cloak
This shirt was made after I graduated high school (2008). It is worn like a short robe, with two buttons under the armpits holding the closure together. The right sleeve is short, while the left sleeve is long with a hole revealing the shoulder. The bodice tapers and becomes wider near the waist. The fabric is a rough, linen-like material.

Sleepy Orange
This dress was also made the summer after my second year of university (2010). The top part of the dress is made with two rectangular pieces draped over the shoulders. The bottom part of the garment is a simple dress with leather lacing at the front resembling a corset. The yellow fabric is a soft chiffon with rows of ribbons and lace stitched on top. The black fabric is pure cotton.

This top was made in my second year of high school (2007). I altered it from an old ribbed T-shirt, cutting off the top and stitching down the chest part to form a U-shaped neckline. The neck straps are made from an old cotton button-up shirt.

Malachite
Another knitted design, these leg warmers were also made the summer of 2012, after the black and white sweater. Using all the leftover yarn I had, I went online and tried out different knitting patterns, noticeably the butterfly stitch and the cable stitch. The two warmers have different patterns and different lengths.

Baltimore Checkerspot
Also made the summer after I graduated high school (2008), this dress is made with a pure black cotton and a printed cotton. A taper-shaped piece in front of the chest is stitched to a banded collar that snaps shut at the back.

This dress was made for my university graduation party (2012). The party was 20s-themed, and coincidentally the 1920s is also my favourite fashion period for women. The dress is a large piece of rectangular black lace, folded in half and draped to my liking. A black bra is used to secure it down, and on the left side is a black synthetic flower holding the skirt part up.

A simple dress made in my third year of university (2011). The top and bottom parts of the chest are secured with elastics. In front of the chest is a hole for the neck straps to go through. The fabric is a printed rayon.

The vest was made for a class in 2010, when we were learning how to pattern. The skirt was made with the leftover fabric the summer after that semester. The fabric is a soft cotton fabric, and the lining is a pure black cotton. The neckline of the vest is piped, and the bodice is pulled back with a small belt.
