This series, which I began over the winter and spring of 2017, involves the creation of textured magazine pages using Citrasolve cleaner and water to release the printed ink of ads and articles within published periodicals. The interesting patterns and swirls of ink that are released with this cleaning agent make for superb jumping off points for collage ideas. I take these ideas further with the use of acrylic mediums, paints, inks, metals, glass and Japanese and other handmade papers to come up with visuals that make me think of ancient myth, the complexities of stories, sexuality, aging, diversity and human rights.
