ARMUR. CERAMIC OBJECTS

Armor - a protective layer of material having a sufficiently high strength, toughness and other mechanical parameters, standing on a high level of performance, performing in a particular case, the function of the various obstacles on the strength and intensity of exposure to the object surrounding this layer.
The term "armor" has a fairly broad interpretation, but protection always remains essential.
The objects I present, to some extent, repeat the shape of objects made of textile, garments. But they do not possess the qualities of clothes - softness, flexibility, convenience.
Materials I used are soft and plastic. But it was soft and moldable before burning, froze, petrified and turned into a solid armor. An armor that can both protect and harm or interfere. Reduce mobility, tighten breathing.
The basic principles of dress were originally functionality, feasibility and universal form. But over the time priorities have changed. Simplicity turned into complexity. Ordinary, durable, functional, intelligent changed to an extraordinary, fashionable, emotional, spectacular.
However, these aspects alternate, sometimes replacing and sometimes complementing each other.
Any clothing and accessories is armor. Clothing is created to protect people from the effects of the environment, in order to hide the body from prying eyes, and the shell which is designed to divert attention from the state of the soul...
Modern fashion is not one trend, but many different fashions for various consumer groups, a lot of styles existing together, satisfying a variety of aesthetic needs.
Clothing is now seen not only as a means of social identification, but as an opportunity for creative expression of personality. Almost every person has a need to surround himself with beautiful objects. Therefore, the value of things embraces two principles - benefit and beauty. Each subject is incorporated technical and aesthetic principle, always unstable and historically alternated.
The trend towards individualization of the image remains relevant in the design of clothing.
My project is a set of objects. This is something that is on the borderline between jewelry and clothing, outer shell and psychological protection.
Much attention is paid what we put on ourselves. This is how we identify ourselves.
I have chosen relatively simple shapes but complex technical and technological aspects bring out its value. The model can serve as a stand or be on a stand.
Just like it occurs in the fashion industry. But also the stand can be used as a model.
It can be used to show an object, or an object can be used to bring attention of a person.
My works can be exhibited in various ways.
They can be worn by person or a mannequin, just lie down or be suspended in the air.
Depending on the exposure they acquire a different meaning.

The project was implemented at the University of Linz Arts. Department of Conceptual Sculpture / Ceramics. Curator Ingrid Smolle, Linz, Austria, 2015
Inspiration for the my project "Armor" was the project Maciej Kasperski "Ceramika Noszona / Worn Ceramics" and my work on the topic "Body - Sculpture" Curator Maciej Kasperski, Ceramics Workshops, Krzyzowa, Poland, 2012
