KillRadio Rebrand and Poster

Punk Rock has changed plentiful. Not only within the past twenty years but even drastically within the past ten. It lives differently in spaces, that before, were not fathomed to exist. Now, music is widely shared through mediums of social media and web domains, and this includes punk rock. This inspired a lot of my project, the idea of: what does punk rock look like in 2017? How has that changed?

KillRadio is a band I grew up loving and I have gravitated towards for this project considering their recent announcement on social media to create a new album. Using their existing logo and look, I took these elements and repurposed them into art that would be both representative of their past and potential future.

Rebrand and Poster
The poster is comprised of multiple elements that revolve around politics and consumerism which comprises the theme of their music. However, the concept behind this poster revolved around the idea that what we know of the radio has changed. It's no longer a dedicated piece of machinery on a bookshelf in the home or in the garage with a parent working on a car. It's now our devices, we stream music and at the same time consume multiple forms of media. The band's name of KillRadio is still understandable, we know what a radio is but the form has changed. Which is why I have depicted the destroying of a laptop in a violent manner. Because this is not only parallel to their music of destroying a radio, of freeing oneself of unquestioned consumerist ties, it is now the very symbol and way we consume all.
