Mr. Cooper Rebranding

In a marketplace still reeling from the fallout of the subprime mortgage crisis, Phenomenon gave the nation’s largest nonbank mortgage servicer, Nationstar, a complete top-to-bottom rebrand, elevating consumer engagement, and most importantly trust. We set out to do this by humanizing Nationstar at every touch point, starting with the name.

We are proud to introduce Mr. Cooper. 

Mr. Cooper represents the kind of people who will go the extra mile for you. Those who help others realize the dream of homeownership, while avoiding a “business as usual” attitude. By establishing a personal relationship in a very impersonal category, Mr. Cooper embodies the idea that one person can make a big difference.

For the Mr. Cooper brand to stand out in a home loan industry saturated with traditional jewel-tones, we paired inviting blues and greys with bright purposeful accent colors. Working with illustrator Andrew Colin Beck, Phenomenon created a library of illustrations that helped convey the complex concepts and processes of the home loan industry in a simple and clear way. Straying from traditional stock photography, often overused in this category, we were also able to introduce an element of levity which would in turn help improve the brand’s communication.
