Lookbook Photo Direction, for ModCloth

With a creative team structure that empowered different people to art-direct shoots, the lead designer on a project was the person most often in charge of Art Direction. As Design Manager, I encouraged collaboration between all the creatives assigned to the projects, and suggested ways to help streamline the structure of the shoot (storyboarding, planning outfits for the different locations on set, grouping shots to coordinate hair and make up, coordinating it all with lighting and time of day). Other types of planning I worked on was coordinating shot lists to cover different types of photo assets needed from a shoot (lookbook, home page graphics, social media imagery, banner ads, etc).

When I was on set for a shoot, I helped the photographer set up the shot and frame the model to best showcase the merchandise, as well as ensure the shot would work for the designers.

I was also part of the team selecting shots to be used in the final designs. I would take into consideration what photos looked best, worked best for the particular medium, and thought about how everything fit together in the bigger picture of the project as a whole.
