My goal in shooting is to get the timing, focus and composition right while shooting slightly flat and slightly dark (to the left).  My goal in post-production is to bring out the image's emotion as sympathetically as possible, while tidying up the camera's mechanical limitations.  I don't try to change an image into something that it's not.
