Etrian Odyssey logo design
While the original Japanese Kanji could never have been used, I still borrowed many of its organic design elements to both please our licensing partners and our fans. My original design is still in use, new iterations have changed little more than its colors.
Etrian Odyssey logo design with variation
This particular version uses the red "coat of arms" buff. I always try to provide versions and variations that help designers, no matter if its web or print, to present the logo with distinction.
Etrian Odyssey Untold
When this latest series reboot came out, the marketing teams wanted some updates to the logo. Again, we referenced the original Japanese Kanji logo and kept to the leafy, organic qualities that is so much a part of the design aesthetic of the Etrian series. The Beaux Arts influence is extremely evident.
Crimson Gem Saga
The original title logo was actually in English (this was initially a Korean publication), but our marketing and localization groups at ATLUS decided on a title change. I looked to include dome of the key art like the gem stone and shield backer into my revised design.
Izuna
Along with my project lead Mason Hyodo, we captured something of the feel of a shodo or brushed Kanji lettering linking the logo with the quirky pink coiffed heroin.
3D Dot Game Heroes
The only original par of the Japanese logo here was "3D". I often work with project leads directly so that everyone can understand the needs of the marketing group, who I am usually linked with, as well as the localization leads that often must deal with foreign partners and production issues.
Dokapon Kingdom
The original logo was completely in Japanese. While I did give a lot of weight to the original style, with its gradient fills, I wanted to create a logo that reflected fairy talle fun and adventure qualities of the game. I added the castle element and reworked the arrow spinneer to help set it off the other very busy key art that it was often coupled with on game covers and starter screens.
The Cursed Crusade
This was a gritty melee combat game in the tradition of Demon's Souls. The story was about damned crusader knights with the power to change into demons and use the powers of hell to overcome their foes. We worked to create something that looked aged and burned and combined it with the symbol of the crusader's cross.
