THEMED CALENDAR DESIGN
The brief_ The brief of this project was to design a themed calendar containing 6 of my own illustrations.

Execution_ My theme contained the question "What are you doing with your time?". That led to an interactive design where the buyer can create a small artwork out of the illustrations and have something to show for their time spent. These led to two actions: Mark making and building. The buyer can build upon the illustrations and use thread to bring on their own marks (twists), putting a piece of themselves in the artworks.

The idea that connects the chosen illustrations to the theme of the calendar is the idea of appropriation. I wanted to refer to these famous artists and how they used their time to make their mark. I wanted to put my own mark on this calendar by putting my own twist on these famous artworks. I used the same colour scheme and illustration style throughout the calendar.
The Kiss represents February and valentines day.
The swing has a bit humor attached. Instead of the luscious garden, all the trees are busy shedding their leaves in fall (April).
The scream represents how most people feel about the cold during wintertime in South Africa.
Starry night shows the wind blowing and the trees almost toppling during the August winds in South Africa.
Frida and her well-known flowers in her hair represent springtime in September.
The wave is a reference to those summer vacations and time spent on the beach.
Thank you
