TYRE PRINTS TO FABRIC PRINTS
The inspiration of this project came from the brand Metaphor Racha, headed by a Bangalore based designer Ravi Kiran for whom Khadi was much more than a mere fabric by producing h the fabric and putting various prints on them.
And for me Khadi has always been a reminder of revolution. A simple spinning wheel spun a whole revolution and that's what makes Khadi so relatable. The coarse nature of fabric implicates life so perfectly that it hides the imperfections of the body. That's why i decide to use it as my base fabric.
Apart from being the symbol of revolution, Khadi also depicts movement, the immense movement of spinning wheel followed by the moving warp through weft. And Tyre was the best way to show the depiction of the movement. So it was my inspiration for the prints.
