Draiwings
Birds Eye View of Chuo Ward, Tokyo, Japan
Drawing pen on paper 30x40 cm, 2017
I was going for a dynamic expression and some energetic rough hatching, especially in the bay area in the top left corner.

I finished it by adding a lot of detail. You can see the trains on the tracks and people and cars on the streets, and some ads on the buildings as well.

Clouds
Drawing pen on paper 20x30 cm, 2017.
I find clouds are not easy to render with hatching, especially not with a drawing pen. I takes a lot of concentration and patience, but I think it's worth it. Using thick lines and dark tones makes the clouds look very heavy and grim, and significant.

Panorama of Nagoya, Japan
Drawing pen on paper 20x30 cm, 2017.

I took a very clean and precise approach for this one. I was inspired by the work of Katsuhiro Otomo.
I was focusing on the shadows of balconies on each floor. I used 4 different pens, 0.03, 0.05, 0.1 and 0.5, to get lines of different thickness. It is a simple systematic rendering approach that gives a stunning effect of depth and makes the buildings pop out.

Shibuya Hikarie Building, Tokyo, Japan
Drawing pen and markers on paper 20x30 cm, 2017.
Shibuya Hikarie is one of my favorite buldins in Tokyo. It looks like a few boxes piled up but it reminds me of Macross. It has some 80`s style futuristic feel to it I think.
