In this group project, the idea was to choose a social ritual and to build a book about it. We chose the ritual of smiling. All of smile so often everyday without realizing it and we don't stop to think how it will affect the person we smile at. So in out book, we follow the smile as it travels from one person to another and surprisingly ends back at the very person it started from!
My team-mates and I were fascinated by the idea of making something tangible [a book] based on something so intangible [ the act of smiling!]
We also realized that creating the book by hand by making collages would suit the idea of the book and in the process we had tons of fun ourselves!
