"The Life of Tymon of Athens" is a Shakespearean tragic comedy written in collaboration with Thomas Middleton in the early 1600s. It tells the story of a generous patron who charities all of his riches to greedy corrupt politicians; all of which turn their backs on him when he seeks help.
This animatic was created to tell that story with a modern twist, influenced by Brasilian bossa nova jazz of the 1960s, and a high fashion illustration style. I hand drew the illustrations and combined scanned textures into this simple cartoon.
I wanted to showcase my cheeky, 1940s London style and incorporated elements of humour such as the Last Supper by Michelangelo as a reference and source of parody.
